AN historic turnout has been registered in Westminster as officers confirmed the count was on target for a 4am finish.

Moments ago Westminster Council's chief executive announced provisional voter turnout figures of 59.9 per cent for Westminster and 55.47 per cent for Cities of London and Westminster.

A counting officer told the Times that staff are positive about completing on time, adding that now that papers have been verified, a clear result should be announced to schedule.
