....and Scott Parker is a big part of those plans, says Hammers boss

West Ham boss Avram Grant says that the club's gritty determination to keep Scott Parker is a statement about the Hammers' future ambitions.

Grant said: "We have ambitions at this club, we want to progress and we want to go forward. We have a plan for the next few years, not only for one year, and Scott Parker is a big part of these plans.

"I am happy for him. He is a good player and he is a good lad. He is good for the vision of the club.

"He is professional. He knows that he is a very important part of our ambitions to progress and to be a very good team."

Grant has also confirmed that he remains in the market for new signings, with West Ham keen to avoid a repeat of last season's relegation battle.

He added: "We have a good group but we can make this group stronger and we are looking for players that can make us stronger."

The Israeli coach has, however, refused to confirm that Nice striker Loic Remy is among those he is looking to bring on board.

"I will not speak about players that we haven't signed," said Grant.

"We have two or three players that we want to sign, in positions that can improve the team, but when we sign someone we will let you know.
